Heinz-Harald Frentzen

Heinz-Harald Frentzen (born May 18, 1967) is a German former racing driver who competed in Formula 1 from 1994 until 2003. Frentzen has notably finished runner-up in the drivers’ championship in 1997, with three Grand Prix wins and 15 additional podiums.

Sauber

Frentzen made his Formula 1 debut with Sauber in 1994, scoring points on four occasions. He continued with the team in 1995, with Red Bull as a team sponsor, and scored both his and Sauber’s first podium at the Italian Grand Prix. He remained with Sauber for 1996.

Williams

Williams signed Frentzen for 1997 to replace reigning champion Damon Hill, and took his first Grand Prix win four races into the season. He stood on the podium six more times that year, and finished the season runner-up in the drivers’ championship behind his teammate Jacques Villeneuve. Despite starting 1998 with a podium, Frentzen and Williams were unable to replicate their race-winning form.

Jordan and Prost

Frentzen made a switch to Jordan in 1999, and took two wins and four podiums to finished third in the overall standings. The 2000 season only yielded two podium finishes for Frentzen, and he was replaced by Jean Alesi partway through 2001. The German driver entered the final five rounds of the year in Alesi’s vacated Prost AP04, but failed to score points.

Arrows and Return to Sauber

The Prost team had collapsed at the end of 2001, and Frentzen was signed by Arrows for the 2002 season. However, the British team also folded before the end of the year, with the German driver making one more race appearance at the United States Grand Prix as a replacement for Felipe Massa. Frentzen stayed with Sauber for 2003, scoring one final podium in Indianapolis before bringing his Grand Prix career to a close.

Dugena

During his time with Williams and Jordan, Frentzen appeared to have some form of partnership with German watch brand Dugena. Several “HHF” edition Monza and Imola timepieces were produced during these years, with HHF branding often appearing on the case back.
