Damon Hill

Damon Graham Devereux Hill (born September 17, 1960) is an English former racing driver and the 1996 Formula 1 World Champion. Hill raced in F1 from 1992 to 1999, and is the son of two-time world champion Graham Hill. The younger Hill is also well known as Michael Schumacher‘s main rival during the mid-1990s.

Brabham

Hill’s first foray as a Formula 1 racing driver was with Brabham in 1992, the final season of the team’s existence. Hill started the season at the fourth round, racing for the team until the Hungarian Grand Prix after which the team collapsed financially. Hill did not score any points.

Williams

Hill was unexpectedly signed by Williams for 1993 to replace the outgoing Riccardo Patrese. Driving alongside Alain Prost, Hill hit the ground running with three race wins plus seven additional trips to the podium in his first year with the British team. He raced for Williams for a total of four seasons, amassing 18 more F1 victories plus the 1996 world title.  Despite winning the title, Hill had learned before the end of the season that he would lose his Williams seat.

Arrows

Hill signed with an uncompetitive Arrows team for 1997. His results were generally forgettable, with the exception of a 2nd place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix thanks to a tire advantage.

Jordan

After one season with Arrows, Hill signed with Jordan to race alongside his former rival’s brother Ralf Schumacher. Despite a rough start with the team, Hill managed to take what turned out to be his final Formula 1 win at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix. A difficult 1999 season prompted Hill to retire from the sport, although not before helping the team achieve a third place finish in the Constrctor’s Championship along with teammage Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

TW Steel

Dutch watch brand TW Steel announced a partnership with Hill on November 5, 2020. This was followed by the 2021 release of the TW Steel Damon Hill Canteen LE (ref. TW1018) in 2021, and the TW Steel GT15 Damon Hill in 2022. Both models had a limited run of 1,000 pieces.
