Gallet is a historic Swiss watch manufacturer that was founded in 1826 by Julien Gallet. Gallet has the distinction of being the world’s oldest clock making house, boasting a history going all the way back to 1466 when clock maker Humbertus Gallet became a citizen of Geneva, nearly a full century before Galileo was born. Gallet has since become known for their focus on professional, military, sports, aviation, and racing
Jim Clark
Two-time Formula 1 champion Jim Clark wore a Gallet MultiChron 12H. The Gallet Jim Clark Legacy Edition Chronograph was announced on the Gallet Facebook page in 2018, with the website stating that a portion of every sale would go towards the Jim Clark Trust and redevelopment of the Jim Clark Museum. The exclusive timepiece was advertised to have a Gallet Swiss calibre 550 movement with a 50-hour power reserve, and limited to 250 pieces. However, the timepiece was never actually produced.
Acquisition by Breitling
Breitling announced its acquisition of Gallet on March 18, 2025, with plans to relaunch the brand in 2026. This follows Breitling’s 2023 purchase of Universal Geneve.
