David Coulthard

David Marshall Coulthard MBE (born March 27, 1971) is a British former Formula 1 driver from Scotland. Popularly known as “DC”, he has a total of 13 Grand Prix wins and has stood on an F1 podium a total of 62 times.

F1 Career

Coulthard’s F1 race debut came in 1994 with Williams two rounds after Ayrton Senna was killed in the San Marino Grand Prix, competing in a total of eight rounds that year and picking up his first podium finish in Portugal. He stayed with Williams for the 1995 season and scored his first win and seven further podiums.

Coulthard signed for McLaren to drive alongside Mika Häkkinen in 1995, and would stay with the team until 2004. Along the way, he scored 12 race victories and finishing runner-up behind Michael Schumacher in the championship in 2001.

In 2005, Coulthard became part of Red Bull Racing‘s first ever driver lineup. He concluded his F1 career with the Austrian outfit, scoring two further podiums. DC remained in the paddock after his retirement as a racing driver, working as a commentator, presenter, and journalist.

TAG Heuer

During Coulthard’s time with McLaren, team watch sponsor TAG Heuer released the Tag Heuer David Coulthard Special Edition (ref. WG5118.BA0473). Coulthard’s engraved signature has appeared on the case backs of McLaren edition timepieces as well, such as the TAG Heuer S/el West McLaren Mercedes (ref. CG1117.BA0423) alongside Mika Häkkinen and Ron Dennis from 1998.

Casio Edifice

Coulthard became a Casio Edifice ambassador in April of 2008 upon the Japanese brand signing a deal with Red Bull Racing for the following season. The Casio Edifice EF-529DC David Coulthard signature timepiece was announced in November of that year, featuring a blue bezel inspired by his helmet and an engraving of his signature on the case back.

TW Steel

Coulthard began serving as a TW Steel ambassador in 2010, and has worked with the Dutch brand on three signature models. The first was the CEO Tech David Coulthard Limited Edition in 44mm (ref. CE4001) and 48mm (ref. CE4002), released in 2011. The CEO Diver David Coulthard Limited Edition (ref. CE5005) followed in 2012. The third release was the CEO Tech David Coulthard Limited Edition in 2014, once again available in 44mm (ref. CE4019) and 48mm (ref. CE4020).

IWC Schaffhausen

Coulthard has most recently served as an ambassador for IWC Schaffhausen. While there has yet to be a limited edition watch made for him, DC had been instrumental in the official launches of various IWC Ingenieur models. Coulthard notably headlined the launch of the IWC Racing Team at the 76th Goodwood Member’s Meeting in early 2018, followed shortly after with the unveiling of the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “76th Members’ Meeting at Goodwood” (ref. IW381201).
