Alain Prost (born February 24, 1955) is a French retired racing driver and four time Formula 1 World Champion. Nicknamed “The Profressor” for having an intellectual approach to racing, Prost tallied 51 wins and 106 podiums over the course of his Grand Prix career. In addition to his impressive statistics, Prost is also known for his well-documented rivalry with Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna.
Formula 1 Career
Prost’s F1 career began in 1980 with McLaren, immediately followed by a four-year stint with Renault, and back to McLaren with whom he won his first three titles with in 1985, 1986, and 1989. After spending 1990 and 1991 with Scuderia Ferrari, Prost won his fourth and final world title with Williams in 1993 before retiring from the sport. Prost made a return to F1 in 1997 as a team owner of Prost Grand Prix, which competed until 2002.
Ebel
Prost was known to have worn Ebel watches during his time with McLaren and Ferrari, and has appeared in at least one print ad.
TAG Heuer
Heuer has included an Alain Prost edition (ref. 44915) in their lineup of F1 Cavallino helmet clocks. The clocks were made from re-purposed packaging from the underselling Easy-Rider Jacky Ickx edition chronographs from the early 1970s. Other drivers in the lineup included Mario Andretti, James Hunt, Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda, Jochen Mass, Clay Regazzoni, and Jody Scheckter. Images of Prost in a McLaren F1 car would also appear in early ads for the TAG Heuer Formula 1.
An Alain Prost edition chronograph was released in 2011, the TAG Heuer Carrera Ring-Master Alain Prost Limited Edition (ref. CV201Y.BA0794) with a run of 350 pieces. This was part of a series of three Carerra driver edition models, with the other two made for 2011 McLaren drivers Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton and limited to 500 pieces each. The driver names appear on the case back of their respective models.
Arthus-Bertrand
French jewelry house Arthus-Bertrand has previously produced licensed fashion watches for the Prost F1 team.
Richard Mille
A partnership with Richard Mille was established in 2013, with the RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost unveiled in late 2017. The unique timepiece features a mechanical odometer, designed specifically to be worn on the right wrist, and limited to only 30 pieces.
