Shina Nakano (born October 10, 1977) is a Japanese former Grand Prix motorcycle racer and three-time podium finisher in the premier class. He made his 500cc class debut in 2001 with Gauloises Yamaha Tech 3, and competed on two-stroke machinery until the 14th round of the 2002 season before switching to a MotoGP-spec YZR M1.
Nakano spent one more year on a Yamaha in 2003 with the d’Antin team before racing for the Kawasaki factory team from 2004 to 2006. Nakano finished his MotoGP career on Honda machinery, with Konica Minolta Honda in 2007 and San Carlo Honda Gresini in 2008.
G-Shock Collaboration
The Japanese rider’s earliest documented rider edition is the Casio G-Shock G-100 Shinya Nakano. His 56 logo features on the strap, and a Mercari listing suggests that a card featuring Nakano on a 2001 Gauloises Tech 3 YZR500 was included with the watch packaging. A style number of SN-110 appears on the box.
G-Shock and Kawasaki
G-Shock was also a team sponsor during Nakano’s time with Kawasaki, with the G-Shock logo appearing on the Japanese rider’s leathers. During this time, Nakano has also featured on various G-Shock product packaging and ads, including one for a G-Shock G-056 series model.
G-Shock and 56design
Nakano founded lifestyle brand 56design in 2008, during what would be his final season of MotoGP. Between then and 2018, 56design had a number of releases with G-Shock. On at least two occasions, collaborations have also involved Japanese motorcycle magazines GOGGLE and Moto NAVI.
