De Grisogono is a Swiss luxury jeweller that was founded in Geneva by Fawaz Gruosi in 1993. The name Grisogono stems from the Greek word meaning “begotten of gold”. De Grisogono is known for its use of black diamonds, and has also transitioned to watchmaking in 2000. Today, the company is owned by the Damac Group of Dubai.
Collaboration with Flavio Briatore
Gruosi collaborated with Italian businessman and then-team principle of the Renault F1 Team Flavio Briatore to develop the de Grisogono Power Breaker. Unveiled at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, the F1-inspired chronograph has a steering wheel silhouette on the dial, numbers mimicking a gearbox, and on a strap bearing the official F1 logo.
The Power Breaker was released in variety of case materials with factory diamond/precious stone options, with Briatore’s signature engraved on the case back of the first 500 pieces of each version.
