Pol Espargaró Villà (born June 10, 1991) is a Spanish motorcycle racer who competed in MotoGP from 2014 until 2023, and finished on the podium eight times. He is the younger brother of former MotoGP racer Aleix Espargaró.
MotoGP
The younger Espargaró spent his first three seasons in MotoGP with Monster Yamaha Tech3 alongside Bradley Smith, followed by four seasons with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team where he scored his first six MotoGP podiums. After spending 2021 and 2022 as Marc Marquez‘s teammate at Repsol Honda and scoring two more podiums, Espargaró returned to his first MotoGP team in 2023 which by then had become the KTM-powered GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 team. He missed the first eight races of the season due to a practice injury in the opening round in Portimão, and was replaced by Jonas Folger for six rounds.
Despite having signed a two-year contract, the Spanish rider ended his full-time MotoGP career after the 2023 season. His seat was taken by fellow Spanish rider Pedro Acosta, while Espargaró remained with KTM as a test rider for 2024 and made three wildcard appearances onboard Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machinery.
Marea
As a MotoGP rookie, Espargaró served as a brand ambassador for Barcelona-based watch brand Marea. Marea hosted an event in November of 2014 to announce the Pollycio 44 collection, Espargaró’s own line of timepieces. The Spanish rider’s racing number 44 appears on the dial of several models.
