According to Monwatch founder Marco Mauri, he and Simoncelli met in 2011 in Iseo, Italy. A mutual interest in creating a timepiece together resulted from the meeting, and was completed after Marco’s father Paolo Simoncelli encouraged the project to continue after the young MotoGP rider’s death. Named after Simoncelli’s nickname and racing number, the arrangement produced two limited edition Super Sic 58 models that featured a dial designed by his girlfriend Kate Fretti.
