Jo Vonlanthen (born May 31, 1942) is a Swiss former racing driver who competed in one Formula 1 race. He entered the 1975 Austrian Grand Prix and qualified in 29th driving a Williams, but retired due to an engine failure.
Vonlanthen is also the founder of the Swiss Formula 1 Museum, which is currently sponsored by Pirelli, Red Bull, and TAG Heuer.
1975 Heuer Sponsorship?
Jo Vonlanthen’s 1975 Williams F1 car features Heuer branding on the front fairing, immediately below the windscreen, suggesting that the Swiss driver may have had a limited association with the watch brand.
Strom
Vonlanthen is currently listed as an ambassador for Strom, founded by Daniel Strom, the son of Armin Strom. Strom created two Jo Vonlanthen edition Cruizer models. The exclusive chronographs featured Vonlanthen’s helmet logo on the dial, were limited to 60 pieces each, and exclusively sold by Vonlanthen himself or through the Swiss Formula 1 Museum.
