Halda Watch Company is a Swedish watch brand that was founded in 1887 by Henning Hammarlund in Svängsta. The company name stems from a contraction of the founder’s surname. The original objective was to produce pocket watches, and by 1890 Halda was also making typewriters and taximeters. Production of pocket watches stopped in 1917 due to financial problems.
The brand was restarted in 2009 by watch entrepreneur and engineer Mikael Sandström. The first modern Halda model was the Space Discovery, which was tested in space and developed with the input from astronauts. The standout feature was an interchangeable case design that included an electronic “Space Module”, and a second module with a high beat mechanical movement.
Race Pilot
Halda unveiled the Race Pilot in 2013, which also featured two interchangeable modules. The digital module was developed with racing drivers and technicians, and notably featured G-force measuring capabilities as well as a countdown feature designed according to FIA Formula 1 regulations. The mechanical module housed a Zenith movement.
The Halda Race Pilot Trackmaster was also introduced in November of 2016, which featured an additional transponder with military grade GPS.
Nürburgring Race Pilot
In a collaboration with the Nürburgring, Halda announced the Race Pilot Nürburgring Limited Edition in September of 2015. With a production run of 20 pieces, the circuit-specific version came with its customary interchangeable modules, with the Nürburgring logo engraved on the case back.
Other Race Pilot Editions
Halda has since released additional versions of the Race Pilot, including the Group 63 (63 pieces), Rimac (150 pieces), Gold (20 pieces), and Octane (25 pieces).
