COBLOR was founded in 2020 by German entrepreneur Nikolaos Radis, and currently based in Stuttgart. According to the company website, the manufacturing of its watches is done in collaboration with Concepto Watch Factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Circuit designer Hermann Tilke is also the exclusive race track partner of COBLOR. Tilk has designed numerous racetracks that have hosted both Formula 1 and MotoGP.
Nürburgring Asphalt 1
COBLOR is known for creating the Nürburgring Asphalt 1, the world’s first watch with a racetrack asphalt dial. Announced in 2022, the chronograph features a dial made of asphalt sourced from the 2021 restoration of the Nürburgring. Of particular note is its ball bearing-mounted oscillating mass in the shape of the Nordschleife layout.
The Nürburgring Asphalt 1 was launched in two case variations: natural titanium and black DLC coated titanium, and limited to 500 pieces each. One example was added to the Musée International d’Horlogerie in 2023.
The Nürburgring has hosted Formula 1 races between 1951 and 2013, and Grand Prix motorcycle racing between 1955 and 1997. The 2020 Eifel Grand Prix was also held at the circuit.
Hockenheimring Asphalt 1
The Hockenheimring Asphalt 1 was announced on the circuit website on May 22, 2025. The officially licensed chronograph features a two-tone forged carbon case, a dial made from the start and finish line of the Hockenheimring, and an oscillating mass in the shape of the circuit layout. The production run is limited to 99 pieces.
Formula 1 races have been held at the Hockenheimring between 1970 and 2019, and Grand Prix motorcycle races between 1957 and 1994.
